Dear Parents, I’m looking forward to working with your children this year. Art is a place where we have fun and express ourselves. I have high expectations for my students and encourage them to always do their best and to never be afraid to ask for help. The purpose of this letter is to outline my expectations for each and every student. Please sign and return the bottom portion after you have read the information. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. My email address is [email protected] or you can call me at the school.
Classroom Rules: I expect everyone in the art room, including myself, to be responsible and respectful at all times.
Consequences: Students who are not following the rules get a warning. If the problem persists they will be moved to an island. An island is a place, in the art room where they can work by themselves without the distraction of others. If the problem continues, the parent/guardian will be contacted and/or the principal will be asked to get involved.
Recognition: I have an “Amazing Artists” bulletin board outside of the art room. I’ll post artwork on this board weekly. I plan to have an “Artists of the Month” display at the Savannah Public Library beginning in October.
Grades : Students in grades 1st-5th can earn up to 10 points per week. These points are based on creative effort, craftsmanship, content knowledge, use of time and responsibility.
***We sometimes get messy in art, I suggest that students not wear their best outfits on art days.
